Panel description

1. Sustainability, ecology and crop sanity

The sustainability, ecology and crop sanity panel intends to discuss innovative and sustainable management strategies for the olive orchards. New approaches for a more ecological and sustainable development are welcome, with special emphasis on biological pest control strategies. Accepted topics in this line of work are:

– Sustainable olive farming techniques
– New ecological practices
– Orchard and fruit sanity
– Biological pest control
– Organic olive farming
– Other technical approaches

2. Olive fruit and olive oil chemistry

The olive fruit and olive oil chemistry panel intends to catch the attention of all who work in the identification and quantification of added-value compounds in both matrices. New extraction approaches orientated to the identification and quantification of bioactive compounds are welcome, with special emphasis to those involving non- conventional extraction techniques. General applied chemistry within olive fruit and olive oil will also be of interest. Accepted topics in this line of work are:

– New extraction approaches
– Identification and/or quantification techniques
– Nutraceutical and bioactive compounds
– Olive cultivar chemical characterization
– Olive oil chemical profile
– Olive oil adulteration

3. By-products and economic valorization

The by-products and economic valorization panel aims to bring to the discussion the most recent topics related to the upgrade of olive oil sector by-products. Within this panel all the work developed in regard to the valorization of olive oil by-products are welcome, especially those revealing circular strategies associated to economic benefits within different industrial sectors, as well as in the olive oil sector itself. Accepted topics in this line of work are:

– Olive oil by-products valorization
– New policies for a circular olive oil bioeconomy transition
– Economic strategies for industry
– Novel bio-based materials
– Biofuels
